The intent of creating this Grammarly review is to share my own experience with budding writers, recruiters, and creators. I get a lot of emails from students looking for our courses and services, asking which proofreading software we use daily.
As the founder of InternJobHub.com, I’ve spent years collaborating with top corporates like Fortune 500 companies and guiding thousands of students through internships and career-building content. My expertise isn’t just theoretical—I’ve drafted everything from high-stakes executive reports to compelling college essays, always emphasizing clarity, impact, and authenticity. That’s why I’m excited to share my take on Grammarly’s latest AI innovations, which are transforming how we approach writing in today’s fast-paced world.
We are a team of recruiters and creators. From creating a simple job description to an email to a prospect, from offer letters to relieving letters, for social media posts to detailed blogs like this, proofreading software is a must.
For the last 10 years almost, we have tried many tools, from FREE to Premium, like Quetext, Grammarly, ProwritingAid and various others.
Grammarly has evolved far beyond a simple spell-checker; it’s now a trusted AI writing partner designed for professionals at work.

My Take On Grammarly: Things That No One Will Tell You
I will talk about Grammarly in detail later in this post but in case you are in a hurry, I have summarised here for you. Apart from well-known Grammarly features, I found a few interesting features that actually no one is talking about.
- Grammarly recently revamped its writing environment, where you write and create then and there.
- 6 Powerful AI tools that come built-in, like AI Chat, proof reader, humanizer, paraphrasher, expert review etc.
- Grammarly is not just a basic grammar checker; it helps you correct spelling, vocabulary, readability, tone, etc. Grammarly can be used anywhere, on the browser as a “browser extension”, on mobile as a “mobile keyboard app”, and of course as a web app on the Desktop.
- While it works with Google Docs, Word, Gmail, etc, Grammarly works really well with other popular platforms like Jira, Salesforce, Slack, and Discord.
- Can be used for collaborative writing as it integrates really well with Google Docs and Sheets etc.
- Multi-device synchronization is possible as you can use the same Grammarly subscription on upto 5 devices.
- Provides detailed writing stats, you can check your scores on word count, vocabulary usage, and readability.
- Sends you weekly performance reports, like, as a writer, how you stand out among everyone else using Grammarly. Like, the total words you wrote using Grammarly in a week, your unique vocab usage, and correctness.
- PRO users enjoy a built-in plagiarism checker, that is really very effective, I can compare it with Copyscape.
- Last but not least, it is AI-powered, and offers GrammarlyGO, and Strategic Suggestions to ensure you are far ahead of everyone else.
Bottomline: We tested both FREE and PRO versions. Free is suitable for simple vocab, spelling, and grammar correction. For professional touch and advanced AI features, Grammarly PRO is required.
We rate Grammarly as beyond a simple grammar checker, it is a do-it-all tool for writers and creators. Compared to its peers like ProwritingAid and Linguix, I find Grammarly a perfect tool for everything my writing team needs.
Grammarly’s Latest AI Tools For Professionals and Students
Till July 2025, you would know Grammarly as a tool that helps you edit and read your content. In August 2025, Grammarly has rolled out major AI innovations which now makes it a “Class Apart” all in one writing tool that helps you ideate, write, edit, paraphrase, and humanize the content.
As you are looking for the Grammarly review, you would first like to know about those new tools, right?
AI Chat: Get Ideas Fast
Stuck on a blank page? Grammarly’s new AI Chat helps you brainstorm right in your document. It’s better than other chat tools.

For example, you need to create a client’s sales report, simply write “ideas for hooks,” and it will give you perfect bullet points that fit their style—saving tons of time.
Students use it for essays, like asking for “leadership ideas for college apps,” and get tips that sound like them, not a robot. It’s way funnier than my bad tries with ChatGPT, which gives boring stuff like from a cookie box.
Proofreader: Fix and Shine in Real Time
You just need to click “New Doc” in your Grammarly dashboard. Start writing, it will proofread and fix errors in real time.
It’s like a quick editor that catches mistakes, makes things clearer, and adds confidence as you type. In a student group, it changed “did projects” on a resume to “led team wins,” making it stand out. At work, I fixed an email’s bad tone so it didn’t sound rude. I’ve checked thousands of writings— this is like extra eyes that don’t judge your tired mistakes.
Humanizer: Make It Sound Warm and Real
When you use AI to create your content, it sometimes feels robotic. Humanizer helps you convert it into natural, human-like text by adding warmth.

If your writing feels cold like a machine, this adds friendly touches without changing your style—for emails or ideas.
Paraphraser: Change Style and Tone Your Way

You don’t need a tool like Quillbot anymore. I have tried Quillbot and Grammarly’s paraphraser, tried converting atleast 10 content and Grammarly’s results were amazing.
You control how it sounds—make it fancy or relaxed. For a tech report at work, I changed hard words to simple ones for bosses. As an example, if you are a student, you can turn school work into blog posts without copying.
Expert Review: Get Tips from Top Pros
Get expert review on your content before submitting it to your client or college.

It looks at your writing and gives advice from experts like Simon Sinek to add story power in plans—I used it to make a client’s idea amazing. For students, it’s like a teacher giving Hemingway tips on essays.
Reader Reactions: Guess What Readers Think
Like a mind reader for your audience—it helps you spot confusing parts. Not only that, it also suggests fixes.

For a student’s job application, it found weak spots and helped fix them to get the job. At work, it cleared up mix-ups in team notes. I love studying how people react— this catches “what?” moments before they happen.
Pros and Cons of Grammarly
Grammarly has both advantages and disadvantages. It is worth noting them before you actually purchase Grammarly. Below mentioned is a list of the same:

- Tone detection
- A plagiarism detector is available for PRO users.

- Strategic Suggestions make it easy to align writing style for a specific purpose.
- Suggests Subject-Verb agreement and improves readability issues.

Grammarly Features: Free and Pro Offerings
As per my experience, Grammarly is definitely worth your time and money as it helps you proofread, improve using AI, that too on multiple devices and apps.
I like it more than any other editing software because of its phenomenal list of features, even in its free version.
Check the features below.
Basic Grammarly Features: Free Version Offerings
For students and amateur writers, Grammarly does have a free plan that moderately improves performance with its features.
Following is a list of the same:
💡 Access to a bouquet of AI tools, no other tools provide. Use tools like AI Chat, AI Grader, Paraphraser, Expert Review, Reader Reactions, and Citation Finder for free, of course, with limits. We discussed these tools already in detail.
💡 Grammar Checker: Checks for grammatical errors thoroughly and shares suggestions to improve.
💡 Spelling Mistakes Detector: I make a lot of typos and spelling mistakes, Grammarly suggests and corrects words accurately. However, if the spelling is not understandable, it won’t recommend the correct words you want to replace it with.
💡Synonyms Suggestion: Grammarly scans your text to find the repetitive words. Further, it suggests to replace those words. Sometimes, it even suggests words that better fit the context.
💡 Tone Detection: Grammarly Free plan scans your text thoroughly to increase the tone; that is how your content sounds to readers.
💡 Detection for Punctuation Errors: Grammarly fixes punctuation errors often caused by different dialects. Asians usually follow U.K. English, and for web publishing, the tone should be UK English, which makes a significant difference in punctuation. Similarly, they have Australian English, American English, Canadian and Indian versions.
💡 Conciseness Checker: Grammarly Free plan checks if there is redundancy due to certain words that can cause fluff. I explained this above already. I got more such suggestions in PRO and lesser with its free plan.
💡 Set Custom Writing Goals: Grammarly’s free plan lets you set writing goals that ensure the text aligns with its intent and prerequisites.
💡 App Actions: The free plan gives you access to Grammarly App Actions that integrate with Unsplash and Giphy. PRO users are allowed to integrate over 11 popular apps, like Hubspot.
Therefore, Grammarly offers various features in its free plan as well that make it easier to write without basic errors.
Grammarly Premium Features: Grammarly PRO Offerings
PRO users will experience everything in a FREE variant plus a long list of advanced and exclusive features.
Grammarly’s PRO is an AI-backed, super-advanced full-suite writing companion for true professionals.
Below-mentioned is a list of Grammarly PRO features:
💡Domain Goals: The Grammarly PRO plan lets you choose the domain you write for. Therefore, you can select which your text belongs to: Academic, Business, General, Creative Email, and Casual. It accordingly shares improvements.

💡Plagiarism Checker: Its plagiarism detector feature is also available to PRO users. Like CopyScape, it checks your content across its ProQuest database, which contains 16 million web pages and academic research papers.

💡Sentence, Tone, and Vocabulary Improvements: The Grammarly PRO plan gets 2X sentence, tone, and vocabulary Improvements as those in the free plan.
💡Full Access To GrammarlyGO: Out of content ideas, looking for improvement areas in content? Built-in AI feature can help. GrammarlyGO is an AI-enabled feature that helps you rewrite, improve, and add value to your content. With PRO plan, you get sufficient 1000 monthly prompts, enough for a regular writer.
💡AI Detector: If you are working with writers and you don’t want them to use AI, you now have a tool to find AI usage. You can check how the AI detector works here. With the PRO Plan, the AI detector comes built in.
💡 Provides Strategic Suggestions and Advanced App Actions: The Grammarly PRO plan gives you access to its new feature, Strategic Suggestions, tailored to your goals. Following it helps you refine the content with better research and style. Moreover, even the Advanced App actions enable you to integrate with various apps like HubSpot, Google Drive, and more.
Some features are unique to the PRO plan, while others are an advancement to the fundamental free features. Yet, there’s a significant difference.
If you ask me, I don’t see all such features in any of its competitors, be it Turnitin, ProWritingAID, Linguix, and others..
Grammarly’s Performance and Accuracy
Grammarly is accurate and suitable for most use cases. I tested it myself and took feedback from several content writers working for us.
They love Grammarly for its 100% accurate error findings related to grammatical mistakes including the wrong usage of tenses.
Not only this, Grammarly helps you highlight Passive voice usage (which is not always bad) and tone.
Grammarly is not just a basic grammar checker, I find it a smart tool that tries to understand the content and the purpose of each line, basically the context. Accordingly, it may also sometimes suggest a completely new sentence with correct tone and grammar.
Check the example below, that shows its accuracy. You can see two errors in the image below. They are highlighted with red underline and on the image’s right you will see the correct word.
It’s upto you, whether to accept the suggestion or not.

Grammarly is also helpful in correcting your spelling errors.
If you need a professional touch in writing, you can also accept suggestions in the “blue” line, like in my case, it’s suggestion helped me remove redundancy (See image below).
I wrote “period of time”, and it suggested me to replace it with “period” only. It also highlighted “shrt” with a “red” line, it’s “short” actually.

💡Try PRO at special rates here.
Grammarly’s Speed
It works like your companion, like you are typing and someone is instantly reading it and suggesting the changes.
As you can see in the snapshots above, I was writing and Grammarly was instantly helping me correct my sentences.
Be it your tone, spelling, grammar, or any other thing, you will find on-the-spot suggestions.
It is really helpful when you are creating your essays, project reports, official emails, web content and even social media posts.
Grammarly Plagiarism Check Review
Whether you use Grammarly through Chrome extension, Microsoft Add-in, or the official website, you will see the “Check Plagiarism” option below Grammarly Performance insights.
It checks whether your content is copied from other sources on the internet. The feature is only for paid plan users, but, is it worth it?
I checked 5 moderately plagiarized articles. It could detect plagiarism in all of them, however, a few words were missed.
I ran a plag check of the same 5 articles on Copyscape and on 2 articles it could detect 2-3 more lines or words matching the other websites. Plagiarism was still less than 1% so it hardly makes any difference.
It is ultimately all about the updation of the database a plagiarism detector has, sometimes, Copyscape scores above Grammarly and vice versa.
Still, the Grammarly plagiarism detectors work decently for students with a better database for Scholarly articles.
I used over 6 plagiarism checkers available, I would say Grammarly ranks in top 3. Basis my experience, I still use Grammarly and do not buy Copyscape.
Grammarly App Actions and Strategic Suggestion
Grammarly has recently innovated its cross-platform apps to introduce new features beyond the context of a conventional grammar-checking tool. Earlier, it had come up with GrammarlyGO, which leverages AI to generate outlines, paraphrase, etc.
The following is a list of more such features that make it a genuine writing buddy:
Grammarly Strategic Suggestions
How often have you faced the issue when your writing style didn’t comply with the text’s purpose or topic intent?

The Grammarly Strategic Suggestions feature analyzes your text to figure out the purpose. Accordingly, its AI model shares suggestions to help it align with the topic intent.
It suggests you add more information, missing text, deadlines, etc.
Are Grammarly Strategic Suggestions Worth It?
Yes, Grammarly’s Strategic Suggestions feature is helpful.
Below mentioned are the benefits of Grammarly Strategic Suggestions:
- Helps You Emphasize The Main Purpose of Text For Your Target Audience: Writing content that doesn’t make sense to readers is haste. It’s your target audience for whom you are writing, and Strategic Suggestions detect the purpose of your content. Further, its suggestions highlight the insights and indications that will help you emphasize the text’s primary purpose for your audience. If you write for “Grammarly Review: Is It Safe,” it will highlight the parts of the paragraph that are straightforward and would help users. Hence, your content can even be a part of the Featured Snippet.
- Highlight Content with More Details: Often, you would have written confined articles or those with improper research or even been confused with the outlines. As a result, you use AI to generate outlines or write as you feel. But it can miss important details. Here’s where Grammarly suggests additional information you must add related to the context. For example, if you write about ChatGPT, it can tell you to write about its alternatives. These details help your audience understand things better.
- Adds Persuasiveness and Makes Content Convincing: Writing any conversational text can also fail to connect with the other person. Here’s where the AI detects it and shares suggestions to make it more persuasive. This ensures better engagement. Whether it be emails, ad copy, sales posts, pitching, or even blog posts, they are more likely to convert or resonate with the audience.
- Makes Your Writing Confident and Adds Authoritativeness: If your content has levels of uncertainty, it creates doubt amongst your audience. It thus compromises the quality and impact that the text would have otherwise made. Google has established the E-E-A-T (Experience-Expertise- Authoritativeness-Trustworthiness) formula that pushes rankings to the top. If your blog post is less engaging, it will likely turn away the audience. Therefore, strategic suggestions add clarity and confidence.
- Connect With Target Audience Better: Valuable content touches the pain points of its target audience to make it more relatable. It even forges a better connection with them that lowers the bounce rate. Therefore, Strategic Suggestions include analyzing the content and highlighting the perspectives where you can add an emotional perspective that better aligns with content goals.
The Strategic Suggestions feature doesn’t improve the overall readability score. Yet, making the content persuasive and engaging and adding clarity and confidence improves the score somewhat.
For PRO users, I have explained the process to activate this feature.
- Just visit your dashboard and click “Increase the impact of your text” option.

Strategic Suggestions would now be enabled, giving you thorough insights into how to modify content for different factors.
I would recommend testing this feature and accept the suggestions judiciously.
Grammarly App Actions
Switching tabs is the most annoying part of writing; however, connecting with co-workers, adding images, or similar becomes difficult. Hence, Grammarly has added the App actions feature. Therefore, you will find many apps that can easily take action without switching apps within the Grammarly interface.
The App actions feature works for apps like Asana, Unsplash, Giphy, Jira, Confluence, Google Drive, Confluence, Calendly, HubSpot, Smartsheet, Microsoft 365, etc. Besides, it is available for different apps, but free users can only use Giphy and Unsplash through the app.
However, the app is available only for Windows and Mac users and needs the Generative AI feature turned on.
How To Use Grammarly App Actions?
To begin using Grammarly App Actions, first ensure to download its desktop app, Chrome extension, or Microsoft Add-ins. You cannot access it through the website or Mobile app.
Further, follow the steps given below:
- Sign in with Grammarly
- Click the light-bulb icon to the left of the Grammarly button
- Type the app’s name that you want to use in the text box or click More ideas
- In it, select the app that you want to use
- Further, tap Connect in the app to sign in with your respective account credentials
Now, you can work seamlessly without the hassle of switching apps. It works well; however, as Grammarly works with robust internet connectivity, so does the App Actions.
Grammarly Readability Score
Readability scores analyze your content based on their algorithms and suggest the level of education someone would need to understand it.
Therefore, it gives you an idea of the literacy level of people engaging with it. You can determine the target audience goals, identify the gaps, and tweak them according to your requirements.
So, when you upload your content on the Grammarly website, it rates it between the scores of 0-100, and this algorithm doesn’t use Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level or Running Fog Grade. Instead, it evaluates your text readability based upon:
- Word Count
- Number and types of issues detected
- Clarity
- Vocabulary
- Grammar
- Punctuation
- Style
- Spelling
These evaluate your content performance within the 0-100 scores that aren’t readable, as most of you think.
To check Flesch-Reading Ease Score on Grammarly:
- Go to app.grammarly.com and upload your content
- Click the Overall Score button at the right and you can see your readability score as shown below.

A window indicates your text Performance, Word count, Readability, and Vocabulary insights. The Readability metrics indicate the Readability score parameter that displays the Flesch-Reading Ease score.
Last two lines, Grammarly would display the lowest educational level that your audience should have to understand.
For better performance, Score higher, your content should be easy to understand for school-going kids.
Still, this tool is good for brainstorming topics. Also, students preparing for an interview can generate a perfect self introduction along with the popularly asked question “tell me about yourself“.
Can Grammarly Replace Editors?
No, Grammarly works wonders for fundamental checking. Yet, being an experienced editor checking through each piece of content makes me feel the limitations of AI in grammar checking. There are various factors, like removing fluff and establishing flow and coherence in content, that only an editor can do. Besides, editors check whether the content aligns with search and topic intent apart from client goals.
Are Grammarly Editing Suggestions Legit?
Yes, Grammarly’s editing suggestions are legitimate in removing inaccuracies in the content. However, I still recommend to review all the suggestions before accepting them.
So, you should view every correction.
Besides, they are good enough to eliminate writing mistakes, but only an editor can do the advanced editing.
Grammarly User Experience
There are five ways to use Grammarly: Desktop apps, through the website, add-ins, Chrome Extension, and the Mobile app.
It saves time and offers a simple and intuitive environment that is beginner-friendly. The user experience seems simple and not so technical, which means, you actually don’t need to spend time learning its usage.
It suggests the errors and shows you the “accept” button, you click it and suggestions are implemented automatically. There is an option to reject the suggestion as well.
However, only the Grammarly website version enables you to check metrics like Performance and readability score, which may be a disadvantage for a few.
You can access the website through a smartphone or similar devices if you switch to the Desktop site option. But, Grammarly’s web version isn’t mobile-optimized.
Hence, checking the metrics through the Desktop site option in mobile browsers is quite cumbersome. The mobile version is good for basic proofreading and editing.
Recently, the Grammarly keyboard for Android was discontinued and introduced the all-new Android app. The keyboard addition is still there in the new version. The new launch is better but you need a good internet connection along with a new phone, otherwise, App may freeze sometimes.

The Final Words on Grammarly Review: Is It Still Worth It?
Grammarly works spectacularly for lucid, concise, and accurate content writing. It also eliminates grammatical issues and gives suggestions based on its Performance score algorithm.
The tool is necessary for errorless writing, and no tool provides the accuracy and precision of Grammarly. Therefore, it is your writing companion.
Besides features like Strategic Suggestions, App Actions, GrammarlyGO, and Plagiarism Check, its scope has extended beyond Grammar checking. Therefore, it’s a true Swiss army knife for writers to correct Grammar and vocabulary, rephrase, Generative AI writing, find plagiarism, and much more.
Hope this review will help our students and job seekers choose the right product. We recommend applying to the following internships for students:
